Europe - one continent with many faces

In the Ghent plant, Brose produces door systems and delivers them just-in-sequence to customer Volvo’s production facility two kilometers away. The capital of East Flanders with a present population of around 250,000 was one of the most significant towns in the world at the end of the Middle Ages. Ghent was made famous and many of its residents rich through the cloth trade.

Countless buildings from this period – many of which have been declared world heritage sites by UNESCO– still characterize central Ghent to this day. Dutch and French, Belgium’s official languages, mingle with English and German in the streets and cafes of the nation’s fourth largest city. Bruges, Brussels and Antwerp are all less than an hour’s drive away, as is the Belgian North Sea coastline.
